You'll enjoy this one.  A circle of copper gets matching wedge t-folds and becomes a bowl.

Here is the bowl made in the video above.

Hands-on time: Day 2

Hands-on time today was fantastic.  We had about two hours to play; here are some pics of students and just a few pieces of their work this afternoon.  Will try to snap more in the morning and add them here.

For the round bowl made from t-folds - in the picture it looks like the edges of the t-fold are folded out. Does this happen just during the opening process, or do they have to be "helped" to fold out?

Hi, Heather! Yes, helped. With all these folds there are varying degrees of manipulation after opening. Charles says, "If it’s not pretty yet, play with it some more." He often points out that with a little manipulation, the object can look like a different object.

Is the first picture in the slide series a star fold which has been sheared ? Viewed from the bottom/inside ? Thanks so much for blogging the conference.

Hi Ed, yes that's a star fold that began as a circle. Do you see the bird? ...my pleasure :-)
